QT FAQ's
What is pet sitting?
Pet sitting is when someone comes to your home 1-4 times a day and cares for your pet when you can’t. Quality Time provides fresh water, food, play/exercise, medications, and tons of TLC for your pets at each visit. We can also walk your pet, scoop the litter box, and any other needs your pet requires. When on vacation we will bring in your mail and newspapers, alternate lights and blinds, water plants, fill bird feeders, and take out your trash and recycles at no additional charge.
Is Quality Time bonded & insured?
Yes! Our independent contractors are also covered. These documents will be presented to you at the initial consultation.
Do you have references available?
References are available upon request from local veterinarians, pet shop owners, and of course, our clients. Quality Time is a member of PSI, NAPPS, PSUSA, PSA,llc, and CSU.
How long are the visits and when will the sitter arrive?
Each visit is 20-40 minutes long depending on that sitter’s schedule that day. The sitter will come to your home as close to your ideal time as possible. There is a 2 hour window that your sitter will come between just in case there are unexpected delays while caring for other pets or traffic.
How much notice is needed for reserving pet sitting services?
New clients should contact Quality Time at least 7 days prior to departure to avoid late notice fees. Established clients can make reservations at least 4 days prior to departure to avoid late notice fees. We understand things come up and aren’t always planned and our sitters will adjust their schedules to accommodate your pets.
What is the first step in reserving pet sitting services?
Complete the on-line reservation contract and a staff member will contact you to confirm an appointment. Or call our office at 301-805-6451.
What if we come home earlier or later than services were contracted for?
You will call our office when you return home to let us know you made it home safe and your pets are okay. There are no refunds for early returns for the time was already reserved for your pets. The sitter will continue to visit your pet until we here from you. Visits serviced after contracted for are surcharged for the Need A Visit Today at $3 extra per visit.
When is payment due?
Payment is due at the initial consultation for new clients. Established clients can leave payment on counter for sitter at first visit or mail in to office.
Can I leave my pet sitter a tip?
Yes. You can leave a tip for your sitter on counter with payment, but please don’t include it in your payment. Or you can send it to the office and it will be given to your sitter.
Can someone watch my pets at the same time as service is scheduled?
Yes. Please let us know about this for the safety of our sitters. Notes must be left to communicate about the care of your pets with the sitter. Though insurance and bonding are not in effect when someone else is entering your home or assisting with pet care at the same time service is scheduled and you are away.
Can you come every other day?
No. Quality Time must visit your home at least once a day to care for your pets.
Can my pet stay overnight with you?
This may be available in the future, but not right now. Please let us know you are interested in it.
